Gideon's Grand Adventure

While Gideon was outside playing on the Skyfort (playhouse) with his cousins, he decided to jump off the ladder (only two rungs up)! When he landed, he started screaming as blood gushed out of his mouth! My sister in law was right there and thought that he had bit his tongue (and she knew what to do, because her little 3 year old had just bit through her tongue a few weeks ago)! Unfortunately, he had not bit his tongue but knocked one of his teeth loose! We had to call the dentist, who said that he was at a family reunion until Monday morning (this happened on Friday at about 7 p.m.)! The dentist told us to just keep an eye on it, give him soft foods to eat, and to call him on Monday if it started turning colors or looked worse! The dentist said that it should heal itself over time! Well, Sunday night after the swelling had gone down, I noticed that the tooth was cracked! We went in on Monday and had to have the tooth pulled because Gideon had chopped it in half clear down into the root! Gideon has had a very good attitude about all of this and is excited to look like his older cousins who have lost teeth, because they are at that age when teeth start falling out, and to look like a pirate! The dentist said that he will look like a pirate for about another year or two because his root of his baby tooth was so long and the adult tooth will not start to grow in until it is supposed to! Gideon was so excited to put his tooth under his pillow and find 20 pennies in the morning and a note from the Tooth Fairy! I'm so glad that he has had a good attitude about all of this and that he is not in pain from having his tooth pulled at age 4! What a Big Boy he is! (The lost tooth is on the bottom right second one in)! He has the tooth and the root in his hand (the root is the big piece)!
