Canning

I got a really good deal on Gala Apples, so I bought one and a half boxes! I wasn't sure what to do with all of them, so I went out and bought canning supplies and learned how to can some apple slices and applesauce! Ammon was able to help me for a few hours, which was greatly appreciated! I then had to battle the rest of the apples myself! Luckily my son loves to eat applesauce, so I pulled out some store bought applesauce and let him sit on the floor and eat that, while I made the good applesauce! By the end of the day, my feet hurt and my lower back was beyond feeling! Here is a picture of three of my jars that I did. I think total I got 12 pint jars of applesauce, 3 quart jars of applesauce, and 12 quart jars of sliced apples! Only one jar of sliced apples did not seal. I guess we will take it down to Granny's house and make Apple/Huckleberry Pie! I really enjoyed learning how to can apples and since I have my own supplies now, I think that each fall I would like to can some kind of fruit! If any of you come to visit, we will gladly share our apples with you!
