For Malachi's Birthday we had Monkey Cupcakes!!! Here is the story of how I finally made a cupcake that was worthy of calling it a monkey with out any problems!!! The very first cupcake ended looking more like a bear with purple goobers hanging out of its nose!!! Let me back up...the monkey is made with black jelly beans for eyes, a full cookie each for the ears with yellow frosting in the middle to look like a two toned monkey, and black licorice for the nostrils and mouth! The only jelly beans we could find were Jelly Belly (which made my monkeys look like they had bulging eyes) and the only licorice I could find was purple licorice filled with grape jelly! So back to this monkey, I cut a cookie in half for the ears because I was worried that they were too big for the cupcake, but this made the monkey look like a bear!
Second monkey had the full cookie for each ear and the yellow middle, but I thought it looked like a girl monkey with Big Yellow Earrings in the middle of its ear!!!
Third monkey ended up looking more like a moose!!!
Finally, here are my monkey cupcakes that I feel turned out looking like monkeys!!! I made about 22 cupcakes, but as you can see only 12 made the cut and were called Monkey Cupcakes!!!
This was the winner Monkey Cupcake that we gave to Malachi for his very own!!!
The older boys picked out Strawberry Ice Cream to go with the Monkey's, so we made a treat out of it and added bananas and chocolate syrup for Banana Splits and Monkey Cakes!!!!
