The Story

On Tuesday, Jan. 10th, at 9:00 a.m. I went in for my regular Doctor's appointment! During the appointment, when the doctor checked me to see if I was dilated at all, the doctor thought that he felt toes instead of fingers! He did a quick ultrasound and found out that, yes indeed my baby was breech! He then asked me if I had eaten anything that day! I said that I had eaten a bowl of cereal at about 7 a.m. He said that since I had eaten, he did not want to proceed with everything until the next day! He wanted me to come into the hospital on Jan. 11th before 7 a.m. to get an epidural and then have him try to turn the baby! If the baby turned, he wanted to induce labor and deliver the baby vaginally! If the baby did not turn or showed signs of distress, he wanted to do a c-section immediately! So, Jan. 11th Ammon and I went to the hospital and after I got the epidural, Ammon passed out (we think because he had only eaten a banana for breakfast and did not get enough sleep and because of the stress)! The doctor and nurses made Ammon sit in a chair and drink some juice, while the doctor proceeded to do a handstand on my tummy to try and turn Malachi! With all of this, I do have to mention that not only was my male doctor in the room but so was the hospital resident (a male), a 3rd year Med student (a male), my doctor's PA student (a male), and another doctor (who was also a male)! So, I was surrounded by all males, while two doctors were trying to turn my baby (and feeling terrible pressure and feeling sick like my stomach was in my throat), and I didn't even get to have my husband next to me to hold my hand!!! Well, baby Malachi did not want his head moved at all, so they took me into have a c-section immediately! They changed my epidural to a spinal tap to control my pain better during the surgery, which made me feel sick to my stomach! They delivered my beautiful baby boy at 9:40 a.m. on Jan. 11th! He started screaming as soon as his mouth and nose were delivered and before the rest of his head was delivered! He weighed 7 lbs 6 oz. and was 20 inches long!
